Jim,
Have you tracked your family tree, so that you know what village in Hungary/Slovakia your GYURCSO came from? Just curious.

I was just reading some of you inquiries about John Durco. My Great-Grandmother is his sister Elizabeth(Eizsebet). She also came over on the ship with him but her last name was spelled Gyurciso. Their mother Maria was
also with them and I believe 2 other brothers Istvan and Mihaly. I'm still searching for information on their father I believe his name was Istvan which was later changed to Stephen. If you have any further information please let me know.

Amy-
I would love to talk to you by e-mail on this!
I did not have any of John Durco's brothers or sisters names, I didn't even know if he had any. Please e-mail me direct, so we can compare notes. I have the manifest of John Durco, & I don't see Elizabeth with him.

My fathers name was Oldrich Durco(changed frrom the original)he died in 1991. All I know is that he was born in Oct 1932 in Bratislava. He spent his entire life as a sailor and a liar if you know anything please help me.I love my father and would like to know anything about our family. especially about the circumstancees surrounding his "escape" from his home land. All I can tell you is that he was very succesfull in australia as a tug master, then the coxswain of the international pilot boat. I'm not concerned too much with what he did, but I need too know about him. Please write
