I'm looking for George Gyer, who married Ruth Dilts, July 1834, at St. John's Methodist Episcopal Church, in Philadelphia, PA. Thanks.

The name has a history primarily in Germany, but there are branches in Norway and in Luxemburg. My husband's people are from Baden, Germany, and Luxemburg, and we spell it GIRE. The English spelling is usually GEYER and the German GEIER. My husband's ancestors, two brothers, came to this country to work on the Erie Canal and settled in Chillicothe, Ohio. There are several GIRE families there in Ross County.
