For fun I looked up my surname on the internet and discovered your posting. Though I do not know any Gyarmathy's living in the U.S. There are a few of us in Montreal and Toronto Canada.
We are Hungarian first generation. It is an unusual spelling of the name, usually is Gyarmati.
It is not our original name ie: my grandfather on my fathers side changed the surname from Grubiz.
If you have any info on the Gyarmathy geneology I would be very interested and can be contacted at the above e-mail address.

Hello..Do you have an Anna Gyarmati who married Frank Brahlek in South Bend, Indiana. I know Frank immigrated from Hungary in 1909 with his parents and many siblings. My aunt tells me that Frank married Anna on June 28, 1913 and he died of heart attack in 1954.

any matches in your family tree pertaining to Anna Gyarmati?

Dear Eva we touched base last year in regards to the Gyarmathy name . I recently discovered that my Grandfathers name was spelled Gyarmati. I was told when he reached Ellis Island he changed it to Gyarmathy. His Natralization papers has his down as Gyarmathy but anything I get from Hungary it is Gyarmati. Sincerely Barbara McKenna

Hi,

I'm living in Hungary. My surname is Gyarmathy. It is quite rare here. My father has an aunt who moved to the US in 1956, named: Attila. His aunt went there before called John. They lived in colorado springs. My Grandfather is a famous Hungarian artist Tihamer Gyarmathy. You can find some picture of him throughout the internet. My father Gabor is an artist too (Quite famous in hungary), you can check his works. His additional name was a traditional addition taken off about a century ago, and he uses it as an artistic name: Radoczy.
