Samuel Gwynne, christened 1792, Glasbury. Radnorshire.Wales.
Has anyone got this Samuel Gwynne as an ancestor in their family tree?? He is one of my Gwynne "branches" missing since christening. No burial for him in parish register so assume he lived. No sign of him on Radnorshire or Breconshire 18441 census. Thanks

Re: Samuel Gwynne, christened 1792, Glasbury. Radnorshire.Wales.
I have information that Samuel Gwynne was the son of James and Anne Gwynne. The children were born on the farm "Brynsifiog" near Glasbury. Issue: Brynsifiog-Masyronnen Congregational church records Brecon, Wales. FHL # 828100. This is from my family genealogy book "The Surname is Gwyn, Gwynne, Gwynn" compiled by my cousin Carl Gwynn. Let me know if I can help with more info.

I was wondering if your records show anyone of this name emigrating to the US in those years. I am direct descendent of a Samuel Gwynne who died in the US in the mid-1850s. Just curious.
Sam Gwynne

Hi Sam We do have a Samuel Gwynne emigrating to U.S. but can't see a connection. He was born in 1839 and emigrated with stepfather Isaac Cobb, mother Mary and siblings in 1853. He died in Thermopolis, Wyoming in 1916. Have plenty on this Gwynne family and ancestors. Pam

Re: Samuel Gwynne, christened 1792, Glasbury. Radnorshire.Wales.
With much help from 2 genealogists well known to Carl, I have traced my branch of Gwynnes back from my Gf (Walter West b. 1866) to James b. 1686 prob. at Glascwm.
Another branch of the family, latterly resident at Folkington Manor in East Sussex, one-time manufacturers of Gwynne motor cars (in Chiswick, London) I have traced back to John (journeyman spade-maker and inventor of the centrifugal pump)) b abt. 1802 in N. Ireland and married Agnes Anderson in 1823. I'm trying to find the link, if any, with my Welsh Gwynnes as I learn that the Irish branch originally came from Wales. Please can anyone help?

Hi Geoff - you'll guess from the name we've met before! Just wondered if you have tied up these two branhces of the Gwynnes. Everything I've seen suggests they are not related but maybe you know differently?
