My grandmother is Victoria Gwozdz, migrated from Austria-Poland I believe between 1910-1912. I believe her birth place was Wadowice, Austria. I know she claimed Austria as birthplace but ethnicity as Polish. I do not have much more information yet, but I am planning to get a copy of her death certificate this week. I am seeking any information from families who have traced themselves to this region.

My relations were Joseph & Malgorzata Gwozdz and they were also born in Austria of Polish ethnicity. They had a daughter named Walerya who married Joseph Cieciwa. They emigrated to USA, but she still wrote to her sister (do not know name)in Nowy Sacz (near Krakow). I'm still trying to find out more info.

I am tracing the Gwozdz family for a friend and her grandmother's name was Victoria from Austria-Poland. She lived from 1895-1983. Victoria was married to an Antoni Gwozdz. He lived from 1891-1969. They lived in Taunton, Massachusetts. Have no other information other than that....is this the same Gwozdz family as your Victoria?

Carl, Your grandmother sounds similar to mine, although you have more information. My grandmother, Anastosia Gwodz (we think), was born in Vienna but indicated she was Polish/Ukranian. We think she was born in 1906 but she was profoundly secretive and claimed that all her records were burning in a fire where she grew up in Poland. I cannot even get a straight answer on her name (I also found it spelled Hwidz), although I did learn last year that she had a sister. Apparently the sister lived in Pennsylvania. Regards. Tom,
Sorry I took so long to respond to this. I've been away from genealogy for sometime. I don't believe my Grandmother had relatives in PA.

Sorry for the delay, if you are still searching. No I believe different. My grandmother died in 1961.

Michelle, my family settled in Western Massachusetts, Chicopee was the town. Let me know if you have any relatives that went there.
