I found today that George W. Gwinner married Margaret Ann Beck March 20, 1884. It listed George as the s/o Jacob and "Beck, Anna" d/o John.

I had heard they came from PA. so I checked there. I found in the 1850 PA. Census, Newcastle Twp., Schulykill County a Jacob Gwinner, 26 M Baker Germany with Constance 15 PA.

I am now trying to make the connection of when the Gwinner family got to Ohio...have been unable to locate that and any other information on the Gwinner family in Crawford Co. OH or possibly a surrounding county.

George Gwinner and wife Anna Dordar Weiss with six children came to Crawford County, Ohio in 1852 per Wuerttemberg Emigration Index. One of those children was George W. Gwinner, my gr.grandfather and he married Rosannah Barger 18 Mar.1862. I have more dates and names for this family and will share if connected.

Here's the data I have, hope it helps. George W.Gwinner 1842-1905 had two brothers, John Gwinner 1845-1929 and Jacob Gwinner 1835-1913. Jacob married Elizabeth Nelson. The father of these three boys was Johann Georg Gwinner 1808-1871 and all lived in Crawford County, Ohio. Their grandfather was Jacob Friedrich Gwinner who lived and died in Germany.I do have some other sibs, burial sites and dates. You can contact me direct if this line seems to fit with yours.

Jacob Gwinner and Elizabeth Nelson are in my line, and I have plenty of information on them. My question concerns Jacob's parents. I would like to know the burial site for Johann Georg Gwinner and Anna Dorothea Weiss. Are they buried in Whetstone Cemetery with Jacob?

George and Dorthea are buried in Whetstone Cemetery. I have been to their gravesite and the stone is in good shape and readable. It's adjacent to the lane or drive tht enters the cemetery. I need Jacob's marriage date and birth dates for his children.

I don't know how I missed their site when I made the rounds at Whetstone Cemetery. I think the mosquitoes drove me off before I found all that I wanted to. What is the name on George's wife's gravestone? Is it Anna or Dorothea or one of the other name variationsI have seen?
As for birth dates for Jacob's children, my ancestor, Sara Ella Gwinner, was born on Aug. 16, 1877. They had many other children, which I have on census records, but I have no exact birth dates. I think I can find their marriage date next time I am at the Historical Society in Columbus. There is a source there with old Crawford County marriages.

Ashland County....I am trying to research my family as well. What I have is that John and Elizabeth Gwinner had four children. Annie, Russell Harry, Martin, and Grant. John and Elizabeth both were buried in the Ashland City cemetery. Russell Harry Gwinner was born in Pennsylvania in 1862. So it was sometime after 1862, when this group ended up in Ohio.

My Barbara Gwinner was b in 1751 in Wuerttemberg, Germany. She married Johann Georg Beck 27 Nov 1770 in Wuerttemberg, Germany. I don't think that they ever emigrated.

Does she sound like a sibling to your Gwinners? Can someone help me find her parents' names? I believe that the records I have for her marriage were from the Lutheran Church in Dettingen, Wuerttemberg. If there is more than one Lutheran Church in Dettingen, I would sure like to know which one had this information.

Please help me out!!
