It is also rummor of a family in the closet. Harry Gwinner was a preacher who was an alcoholic and defrocked. If anyone has any information reguarding this man it would be much appreciated

I know nothing about Gwinner, neither Ralph or Harry. I don't even know where I got "Ralph."

From which of Amanda Maude's daughters are you descended?

Patrick

Hi. If you are still looking for info on Harry Gwinner, I have a little. My grandmother is Anne Gwinner (still alive). She can't remember much about his family except that he may have had a brother named Oak. According to her he was first a Lutheran Pastor who was defrocked for making a remark from the pulpit about the women being G-dd---ed gossips. Next he was a lawyer and was disbarred. I don't know why. Then he was a clerk of courts. That is when he met and married Maude. Then he was a seller of fruit trees. He either didn't make enough money to take care of his family or he couldn't because of his use of alcohol. The police came and took him away for not providing food for his children. Or so she was told. I'm sure there is more to the story, but that is all I know of it for now. I hope it helps you.

Does your grandmother know where they originated from or who his parents are? I don't really know about the police, but I was told that Maude divorced him with the consensus of the church, and he died without family.

The only thing she's said about his family is that she was told, but has no proof, that one of his ancestors was an aide to Napoleon.

I recently received a query from Wittenberg
Seminary in Springfield, OH about R. Harry Gwinner. They are trying to find information about Harry as to where he was born, where he was buried, children's names, etc for their database of graduates in their archives. Could you please contact me at ross.8@osu.edu so that we can determine whether any of this information is available. Thanks
