Looking for any connections to Charles Gwynell (other spellings found) who married Charlotte Kingscot/t/e in Glostershire ENG.
|
I don't know if there is any connection, but I have just actually today found Elizabeth Gwinnell in 1877 in Dudley (Tipton) Staffordshire. She was at that time married to James Bayley (or Bradley according to birth registration for one child).
I don't know her parentage at this time, but it doesn't seem to be a common name in my research at this time, so I thought I should check to see if possible there is a connection?

Hello Lisa,
Thanks for your interest and the info supplied, nice to know Elizabeth's married name!
I have, with some help from a Carole Sharp of Cardiff, found my Charles, it turns out his mother was a single woman, Mary Ann G. and he was baptised as Charles Frederick. We have Mary Ann's parents and siblings, which is back to 1778ish.
We have found a few other Gwinnell names around the country, but no definite connections to our south west lot.
Mank thanks again.

Re: Gwynell, Gwinnutt, Gwinnett
Bill, my grandfather was Edward Gwinnell from the Massachussetts area. My fathers name is Michael Gwinnell. We recently moved to the east coast so there is one more count of gwinnells! Living in Minnesota for 10 years, i just happen to be born in Alaska, making our way down to Minnesota and beyond. My father maybe interested in getting in-touch with you. Please e-mail contact info. to skillmaker@hotmail.com. We have also been interested in finding out more about the Gwinnell name as you have been. My father has been in contact with Gwinnells from England and Australlia. As far as we have been able to determine, the Gwinnell name does indeed come from Gwynnedd county, Wales.

Re: Gwynell, Gwinnutt, Gwinnett
Have you any relations in the Dudley or Tipton area of the West Midlands.
If you have we may be related.
Or do you have any info on a Sarah Gwinnutt/ Gwinnett, and her son Daniel Gwinnutt/nett. he was born 1851, in Tipton and died around 1950-1955, in Smethwick.
He was my 4x great grandfather.
Yours Miriam Abbott.

Re: Gwynell, Gwinnutt, Gwinnett
My paternal Grandmother's maiden name was Gertrude Gwinnett with sisters Rose and Lilly and brother George. My father insists that the name Gwinnett can be spelt several different ways. I am also told that people with the name of Gwinnett are somehow all related. Button Gwinnett has often been spoken about the story being told that his name appears on the American Bill of Independence and how he lost his life in a duel. We are a Welsh family and I have assumed that the name is probably of North Wales origin although we are from the South. It is an unusual name with several endings - nutt, nett and nitt.
