I live in Vestavia Hills , Alabama , and I am a great, great grandson of Littleton C. Gwin through Polly Birchfield, M. M. (Mortimore Gwin, great grandfather, Judge J.C.B. Gwin, grandfather, J.B. Gwin, father. According to geneology.com, Littleton had two sons by Mary unknown, James Gwin and Jerry Gwin. Littleton, Mary (Polly Birchfield), and daughter Kathryn are buried in Gwin Cemetery, University of Alabama Cemetery #218.
We are also looking for information on Mary unknown , and the Gwin (Guynn) roots in North Carolina.
My phone # is 205-823-5509.

We show that Littleton C. Gwin was born in 1809 and died 1865, married to Mary Polly Birchfield who was born 1815 and died 1878. We show the children of Littleton C. Gwin & Mary Polly Birchfield as Kathryn,Jeptha,Chesley Bird,Rebecca, Jeremiah, & Mortimore M. I am a great grandson of Mortimore.
This must be the same one , but do you have his idea why your year of death is 1844 and ours is 1865?

My ggggrandfather Thomas Gwin 1764-1839 and wife Elizabeth Littleton Gwin 1771-1843 lived in York Co. SC and are buried there. They had many children, Richard, John, Littleton, Jesse, William, Jeptha[my line] Thompson, Chesley, Mary, Milly, Sarah, Elizabeth and Nancy. Is possible this is the same family? The info I have says Littleton went to AL and we have no more information. He is named in his fathers will along with all the other children. Let me hear if you think we have a connection.

I think that we might. I have heard that Littleton Gwin left a wife and family (divorced) and came to Alabama. I will get back to you later with more info.

This is probably not the same family. The only common familly name is Thomas. My Gwin family is in SC sometime after 1776, coming we think from VA before that. Many members of this family migrated West, and the brother of my ggggggrandfather Thomas Gwinn 1764-1838, a John Gwin, is thought to have settled in what is now Texas. Not certain about that. If any of this sounds familar to you let me know.
