Charles Erwin Gwilt is my grandfather. He married Louise Crane and they had 5 childen. Charles Edward, Meryl Leighton, Ernest, Alan (died of pnemonia in infancy) and my father, Joseph Robert Gwilt. My father is now 87 years old and is ardently researching the Gwilt family geneology. He is presently writing a book of his families life in Mackinaw City, Michigan. We would love to find more information to add to his book and share the rich history of the Gwilt family.

I found a Charles Erwin Gwilt b.c.1863 in Michigan, son of William b.c.1832 and Sally (Chiverton?). Does this sound like your Charles?

William may have been the son of Francis b.c.1799 and Mary who came to the United States in 1835 on the Mogul. Does this sound like a possibility?

If this is your family, the most likely Francis on my database was christened on 8th Decemeber 1799 at Kerry, Montgomeryshire, where his residence was given as Kevenyberen.
