Thanks Tony

Have you seen the family tree of agwilt8942 on this website? It looks like he has the family of John Gwilt & Ann Williams (whose marriage I got from the IGI) including some siblings for William b.c.1814, albeit he took the wrong path on Jane Lloyd's father.

Regards
Peter

Hello Andrew

If you do a search on Martha Gwilt born 1755 on this site you will find my trees. My trees are named in the format PJR-201X-XX-XX and the most recently uploaded one is called PJR-2011-10-16.

I think it most likely that my Martha was christened at Churchstoke on 15th June 1755, daughter of Edward Gwilt and Elizabeth Evans though this is speculative. The one detail I know for sure was that Martha had a brother named Richard Gwilt who was an executor to the will of Martha's husband, Richard Ridgley. There was a Richard son of Edward and Elizabeth christened at Churchstoke on 27th May 1764.

I have gathered a fair amount of Gwilt data in an attempt to identify Martha's family tree more definitively, and I have found out a bit about your family along the way. At the head of your family I have a John Gwilt who married an Ann Williams at Forden in 1814. I also have noted a Richard Gwilt who married a Mary Roberts in Forden in 1808 who I suspect could be a brother of your John.

What I have on your John is below:

Hello Andrew

I have a photograph of William Gwilt's gravestone which I downloaded, but the bottom part is hard to make out, so I could not say with certainty whether it says anything about Jane or not. Do you have a note of what Jane's gravestone said?

I would say, especially in cases where they are older than her husbands as seems to be the case here, some women seem to have been coy when it came to giving their age to census enumerators. Also have you looked into the possibility of Jane getting married again after William's death?

Peter

Janes grave is at the new welshpool church, strangely it is also Williams stone ie he has 2 one at each church
It gives exact date but doesnt match any online records
I have have searched extensively online for a 2nd m.but havent been able to find one.It would have made sense for her to remarry given the number of children she has

Would you be willing to post the data from Jane's stone please so that I can investigate?

Presumably it is not a case of her dying near the end of a quarter and being registered in the next?

Peter
