HI Sharon

My husband is a descendant of a James Thomas Cooke Gwillim who married Annie Elizabeth Badger October 27, 1892 in England.

They had 13 children one of them being my husband's grandmother.

Any connection?

Sincerely,
Sandra LeBarre

Hi Sandra.

About all I know about our ancestry is my fathers name is Clarence Gwillim, also called Sonny Gwillim.

I have been told that 2 cousins (Gwillim) came to the United States from Romania (I think).

Just read the msg on the Gwillim Surname Board. Sonny and Jerry are connected through Clarence and George Gwllim. Clarence was a cousin to George. Ruby Chism Gwillim married Clarence in the early 60's. Jerry is from Carlinville, another cousin Jerry lives in Shipman, and yet another Jerry resides further north.

I have a copy of research compiled by one of the older cousins which goes back in time to the Wales/British connections. Sonny Gwillim may have a copy. If not respond, and I can have more copies made.

Our daughter Sarah has connected with several Gwillim's from the theatrical side of the family. I have studied in London and countryside while on active duty with the Navy. We certainly have many relatives down under - New Zealand and Australia. Interesting to find new ones from time to time. Happy to assist anyone pursuing the Gwillim heritage.

Saw you message on the board. My father is Sonny and my mother is Delores (Logan)now Coatney. Good to hear from local family. I just got a copy of the Gwillim family book yesterday at Grace's visitation. I hope to get some links to some of the other replys on the board.

I'm sorry I was unable to meet you at Grace's visitation. My mother-in-law may have attended either visitation or the funeral. However, my teaching schedule conflicts with events on Monday evening and Tuesday mornings. Glad to hear you were able to secure a copy of the Gwillim history. Quite interesting! I'm also uncertain whether we may have met at your grandfather's funeral almost 21 years ago. Our daughter, Sarah, was only 6 months old at the time of his passing. Keep in contact. By the way are you still in the Alton area? //
