Hi Eliza was a spinster and in her early life worked at the local Flax mill in Shrewsbury Shropshire the extended Beynon familys at the time Henry was born in 1835 lived in Spring Gardens Ditherington also St Michaels Terrace both ADs across the road from the Mill. As far as my extensive research Eliza was not a seamstress but worked the looms and bobbins in the mills for many years. She was a common law wife of Mr Phillips and after his death I believe she travelled to New York in the autumn of 1890 where she lived till she passed.
I have seen in a lot of State side research and families from the USA some cofusion over Eliza Beynon daughter of Richard Fortesan Beynon and Ann on who was the father of Henry Beynon born in Shrewsbury and Christened as the illegitamate son of Eliza Beynon. My research shows no difinative proof on the father. I will be visiting the Flax Mill on the 13-14th September 2014 with my wife who has Eliza as her 3rd Great Aunt in our family tree.... sadly there is only one Beynon left being direct decendants of Eliza in the UK.
