I have a Alfred Gwartney born in Harrison Co., Indiana 1853, married Mary Jane Hollon in 1872. Children I have are George born 1873 Indiana, Lonzo born 1877 Arkansas, and Nancy A. born 1879 in Arkansas.

Alfred's parents were Robert Gwartney from Kentucky, and Malinda Albin from Indiana.

Does anyone has this Alfred Gwartney in there line? I am wanting information on if there were more children and any other information on these children already listed.

Mary Jane Hollon was the daughter of James and Nancy Ann Hollon. John was Mary's brother. Do you have any information on James and Nancy. Both of them were born in Kentucky, married in Pike Co., Indiana and had 6 children. After 1880, I can't find them. Someone said Nancy was Cherokee and they moved to Indian Terriory after 1880, but I can't find them on Ancestry.com.........Thank you very much for the information you have already sent. I have found them listed as Holland, Hollan, Hollen, Hollon.

Well I found a couple entries in my book, Our Heritage from the Gwartney's of Indiana written by Rebecca E. Sidwell. One is an obituary for Mary Jane Gwartney of Mound Valley, Kansas. (p.186) It lists her as Mary Jane Hollon before her marriage to Alfred. Also states she was born in Indiana and lived in Arkansas and Oklahoma before moving to Kansas.
Also on that page is a copy of a warranty deed, with relinquishment of dower from Alf and Mary J. Gwartney to Nancy A. Hollan, 21 acres in Benton Co. Arkansas. dated 1886. No mention of her husband at that time.
I also have several pictures: One of Alfred's home in Mound Valley, Ks, one of Mary Jane Gwartney by her mother's grave. It says "Grandma" above Mary Jane's head, but does not explain where the grave is. And one is a formal portrait of Alfred and Mary Jane. Also a picture of their headstone.
Not any more on Nancy or her family. Sounds like she headed to Arkansas some time before 1886. Some Gwartneys ended up in Boatman Oklahoma, (Cherokee Indian Territory) but don't know if Nancy Hollon did.

Arley's daughter, Nancy, that you mentioned died shortly after birth. I probably have the date somewhere. I am the "other Nancy" born to Frances (daughter of Arley). I have just started doing a little research on my family tree and came across this posting.
