Hi Robert,

My relations immigrated to NYC about 1900 from Glowienka, Austria (little Poland). They settled in Utica. My grandfather, Wojcieck Guzik (aka Albert Joseph or George) came in 1901. I believe he had brothers, JOhn and Frank, who came in 1899. Does this relate to your family?

Sure would love to find some information. My 2 living aunts are very quiet about it all. They do tell me the Guzik's were wealthy land owners in Poland...that's about all I know.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply

Hello Julie---it seems you know more
about your forebearers than I do.
My father (Joseph), never, as I can
at least recall, mentioned having
paternal uncles. Of my father's siblings, from a family of six children, including himself, only one
sister remains living. I don't know
where in Poland my grandparents came from---only generally know they came
here in the early 1900's. The one story I have heard twice--is that my paternal great- grandfather was a
Polish military officer, who eloped
with my great grandfather, because she
was Jewish--and that was the reason
for the elopement--family disapproval.
I can recall no other specific info.
My grandfather, Thomas Guzik died young--age 49--years before my father
was married.Please--if you'ld like--
e-mail me directly at RGMTOP@webtv.net
to exchange more info-----RJ Guzik

It's funny you should say that...I vaguely remember my Dad mentioning we had Jewish blood in us. He never went into it. I have two aunts living, but they really don't want to talk about it. My Dad was raised a Catholic, as all his siblings were too. When I married a Jew, it kind of came out about us having Jewish blood.

Can you get anything out of your Dad and aunt?

Albert Joseph (grandfather) settled in Utica and married Kunegunda Buras(bopchee) in 1908. She had 13 children.

Did you learn Polish? I sure wish I had. My Dad spoke it, but would never teach me any.

Most of our family ended up in Detroit, MI.

What about your folks?

I thought I was the only Guzik out there! Thanks for your replies! julie

Julie:
Good to see your reply--As I've mentioned though--my father too is
deceased---and he wasn't the fanily
member who first mentioned that my
paternal great-grandmother was Jewish.
It was the older of his two sisters-
who herself recently died. A cousin
of my father again told me the story
actually at my father's funeral. Only
my Aunt Ann, my father's youngest
sister, and youngest of all the siblings, remains alive. I myself am
46 years old, and also live in n.e. Pa. i am curious as to whether your
ancestors are brothers or cousins to
my late grandfather, Thomas---
Sincerely, Robert Jos. Guzik

My name is Ross Bonneau (Bon-NO) and I am trying to locate any family members of our Guzik Line. It is my hope that you will be able to help me further our search.

Here is what I have:

Joseph Guzik no dates but know that he is from Poland. I do not have the name of his wife. Their children are:
1)Zophia (Sophia) Guzik born 10 February 1860 in Glowienka Krosno Poland. She married Franciszek Banas (born 1856 also in the same place) I would suspect that they married abt. 1887 +- a few years.
2)Irene Guzik dates unknown married to David Rooney

Zophia (Sophia as I will now call her) and Franciszek (Frank as I will now call him) immigrated abt to the US between 1889-1891 this because they had two children born in Poland the last being born in 1889, and the third being born in 1891 in Texas. Their children's names are as follows:

1) Stanley he died upon docking in Pennsylvania US.
2) Mary Ann 3 May 1889 Poland - 10 Feb. 1984 Aberdeen BC
3)Joseph (our line) 27 Dec. 1891 in Texas USA -21 Oct. 1961 He married and divirsed Yvonne Lambin
4) Jack 29 March 1897 USA- 3 Sept. 1971 Matsqui, BC Hazelwood Cemetary
5)John 18 April 1899 Wallace Texas - 6 May 1971 Vancouver. BC
6) Walter 19 Sept. 1902 USA- 13 Dec. 1910 and is buried in Sumas Washington along with his father Frank.

If you have any information on these families por know someone that could help me further my search please contact me.
Thank you,
Ross and Sherry Bonneau

my father, Albin Guzik, is son of Wojcieck Guzik who was in America in the early 1900's but settled in Poland in the 1920's. He did have 3 brothers, John, Frank and Anthony.
My Grandfather settled in Nieczajna.
My father 83 is still living and can give me some information.

talking further to my dad he thinks that this could have been his grandfathers brother. His grandfather escaped from Germany in the 1800's and his brother could have very well immigrated to America.
