Hello,

William Fitzpatrick and Rebecca Gay are my paternal gggg-grandparents. As I have not been researching very long and live in an area where none of my ancestors lived. I am in the southern part of WV and they all traveled, as far as I can discover, from Augusta, VA westward following the rivers and Indian trails through the north-central part of WV. They settled in Barbour, Lewis, and Gilmer counties of WV, which for the most part was VA until 1865.

In order for me to do my research, I go to a genealogy library located at Horner,WV. The Hacker's Creek Library is small, but they focus on the settlers who came west through the state, along the rivers. It is the best resouce for me. Most of my information has come from that library.

My line - starting with me
Lois MOORE Cooper
Arthur Jackson MOORE - Lucille CAIN
Lewis Russell MOORE - Ella Frances FITZPATRICK
William T. FITZPATRICK - Martha Ellen WIANT
Clough Shelton FITZPATRICK - Margaret MERRITT
Samuel FITZPATRICK - Ann Sparks WITT
William FITZPATRICK - Rebecca GAY
Thomas FITZPATRICK - Elizabeth HAMMER (HAMNER)
William FITZPATRICK - Sarah Jane BRECKENRIDGE

According to my information the William FITZPATRICK listed last was born in Ulster, Scotland, Abt. 1680

There also seems to be some discussion that Clough Shelton FITZPATRICK was not our ancestor. Most of the people with research at the Hacker's Creek Library seem to state that he is our direct ancestor.

I don't have much firm data except for my parent, grandparents, and great grandparents. My father was one of the youngest of a family of twelve and did not marry until in his thirties, there for I have cousins who are old enough to be my parents. I did not get started on research (I taught school for 38 years) until I retired, therefore most of my family was no long living.

Let me know what information you may be looking for and perhaps I can help. I love it when I get correspondence pertaining to my lines.

Keep searching,
