Iam researching the history of William Guy(1760-1837), RevWar soldier who moved from Mecklenburg Co, VA to Granville Co, NC. Some descendants living in the NC counties of Orange, Macon, and Franklin NC were Clark Guy, Willis Guy, Edmond Guy, Luke Guy, Buckner Guy, George Washington Guy, Andrew Jackson"Jack" Guy, and others. If you have Guy roots from these men or those counties I am interested in where and who you are in regard to an upcoming Family History.

Hello Betty. I looked at your Guy lines you've posted. However, I don't think we are from the same lines. My William was born around 1750, but was of a mixed race family, likely African-Catawba Indian. His son Edmond is where I make connection. Wiilam lived in Mecklenburg Co VA when he was a Rev War soldier, then moved to Granville Co, NC around 1800-1810. If you have uncovered any "free men of color" in your research, get back to me. There might be an earlier connection if there is. But it's great to hear from you anyway!

Thanks for you answer. The William Guy I am
looking for was not a man of color. The
William Guy b. 1750 was the son of George Guy
b. 1725. George Guy served in the Am.
Revolution.
Good Luck on your search,
Betty

Hello Betty,
I have tried to e-mail you using I guess your old
e-mail address because we finally have a Rootsweb
List and we could use someone with your
knowledge on the Guy List. The list is growing but we need more people
to make it great. Hope you subscribe.

Betty,
I'm sorry I didn't explain the Rootsweb mailing list.
I just assumed everyone knows about Rootsweb's mailing lists.
I'm on several surname lists and some of them have hundreds of people subscribed to them like the Stewart mailing list.
If you go to the Rootsweb main page you will find the instruction for subscribing to the different lists and remember it's free.
It's the same as this list but the e-mails are sent to everyone on that list.
Some lists are more active with many people helping one another. I have found more info on my ancestors on the Rootsweb mailing lists than anywhere else.
The Guy list just started and I believe we have over 40 people and hoping for more to join. I know that you have helped me in the past and you seem to be the authority
On the Guys at least in my book or the one person who has done the most research on the Guys in the USA. If you don't join it was nice hearing from you again.
Take Care,
Sandy Stewart
