Mabel Smalley
Mabel Smalley, 72, of Peebles, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center. She was born in Hillsboro on May 14, 1939, the daughter of the late William and Nora (Wisecup) Gustin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild.

Mabel attended Louisville Community Church. She was a tax professional for H.R. Block, a member of the Louisville Grange, Peebles Garden Club, Peebles Shakespeare Club, and Peebles Alumni.

She is survived by her husband, Retired Major Donald Smalley of Peebles, whom she married on June 2, 1957; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel (Kara) Smalley of Illinois; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna (Steve) Raschke of Virginia, Edie Schwamberger of Peebles, and Kim (Bill) Harlow of Japan; a sister, Juanita Gustin of Peebles; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Michael Wiseman officiating. Burial will follow in Louisville Cemetery. Friends may call tonight, Jan. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
