DNA does indicate that the Gurganus's have Ashkenazi Jewish roots, but how this ties in is anyone's guess. DNA does not tie it specifically to Ethiopian Jews or Wales.

... and as far as our DNA being scattered through Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina -- There were several large documented Gurganus families who migrated in the 1800's from NC to SC, GA, and AL. This accounts for the DNA being found in these areas. Suggesting that this comes from people landing in Alabama in 1170 and migrating east and north does not make sense.
