Trying to find relatives of Jan Gurba or Maria Zaromie. Jan could have been born in Radymno. Maria's father was the mayor of Kiev. Before immigrating they lived about an hour's walk away from Crakow. My grandfather was disowned by his family. Anyone out there with any info?

Thank you. I think my cousin Harold has spoken to you in the past. We have found where they lived in Skoloscow and another branch of the family as well as the ship they came over to Canada on. What was your great grandfather's first name? I have some information on trhe Gurba clan back to 1799. I also thank you for the death certificates you provided to Harold. They helped a great deal.

I believe these are my paternal great grand parents. my grandfather is Joe Gurba. I believe they settled in Brandon MB, but if I'm wrong please let me know. I these are the same people listed in the 1916 Canadian census, listed as John and Mary Gurba. Love to discuss, let me know.
Thanks,
april

hmmm, I'm not sure who jim is. My grandfather was Joe Gurba, he passed away in 1997 in Flin Flon MB, his wife's name was Olga.
My father Wayne Gurba, has his (meaning Joe's) birth certificate which lists John Gurba (1874-1945) & Mary Yaromi (1882-1936) as his parents (he read this to me over the phone and I may have heard Mary's last name wrong, could be with a 'Z').
Let me know if you still think we have the same people.

Hi, April!
It's your dad's first cousin Sue Nicholson (Gurba). Sorry to be using ancestry to contact you, that's what happens when you lose a person's email address. I own a copy centre in Mission, BC and we allow people to use our computers to download files for printing. Of course we get virus's (I know that's not grammatically correct) so we use Deep Freeze which effectively wipes out anything (so far) that gains access to our computers. We shut down and reboot and the bug is gone and so are our email addresses. Hence, Ancestry. I wanted to ask if your line has any pictures they might think interesting ie my Paternal grandmother (John's wife), my paternal grandfather (John). Photos of Joe or my dad. I also would like a pic of everyone you have in your line. I really want to compile our history just like the Edmonton Gurba's. So if you would like to be involved in the process, I could use the help. Even if you can't I would appreciate a bio & pic of each one of you to be included in the history. Old people like your dad & I, need a young picture and an old picture so others can examine common traits in the future. I know its a tall order but I believe people need to know where and who they came from. It might take 5 years to compile, because I want to go to Poland and try to find out about your great-great grandmother Mary Yaromi. She was from a rich family and her life with John was a living hell. She died 3 days before Christmas in 1935. Again, sorry to reach you this way. If you reply to my email I'll write your address down in my book.
