My great grand mother was a Guptal.
She married a Dr. Lowe( my great grandfather)
We still have her umbrella and his safe.
I believe the Lowe's came down to Kansas
from Chicago. Call Hazel Lowe, age 90,

I have a Matilda Guptil married to George William Guptail and their children were Winfield,Charles,Eugene,HarryE. Mary, and Eva. Not sure if it's your family. My gr-grandmother's [Guptail] father's name was Winthrop, his father was Thomas, his father was Isaac. But my ancestors lived in Maine,Vermont and New York. E-mail me at keri@ync.net for more info.

We are looking for the parents of Henry M. Guptill who was born in VT June 5, 1824, died April 13, 1896 in Hawkeye, IA. He married Adeline A Beebe (born August 28, 1829) Married Apil 8, 1850 in Erie County, NY and she died January 10, 1911 in IA. We run into a brick wall--when trying to connect Henry M. Guptill to the rest of the Guptills. We understand that there were some of the Maine Guptills that went to Vermont... And I am wondering if Henry M. Guptill could have been a son of Humphrey after reading your information on this message. The dates above are from the obituaries of both of them but it did not list either of there parents. Thanks... Richard & Charlotte Guptill

This past 2 years I've recieved certified records from the Elgin Historical Society in ILL., and local cemeteries. We are all related to the Guptails/Guptills that came from ME, NH,and VT. Humphrey and son, Daniel, and other Guptails went to NY, OH. and then IL. I found where Humphrey was buried and saw his grave along with Matilda (Bryant) and some of his children as well as John's(1800) and William's. Have traced some families as they moved west. I have yet to verify H. and his wife, Susanna (Kimball)'s marriage. and her death. Humphrey did not die in Kane co. so I have to try Cook Co. and Springfield, Ohio yet. If anyone has primary sources on this family, please notify me. I'm willing to share what I have.
also, Thomas(1821)'s father was Nathaniel, not Isaac.
