I am looking for further information on Christian's parents. I show his father as Johannes Gamber, but have nothing else.

Re: Christian Gumbert - 1740-1835 PA
Hi, Christian Gumbert was my 2nd Great Grandfather. Born 1740 or 1741maybe in Bucks County. His father was Johanne Gamber who sailed from Rotterdam as an indentured servant arrivining in the colonies Oct. 11, 1732. His age was listed as being 32 so I presume Johanhe was born 1700. Don't know where. My guess is Germany. Surveying records show 50 acres in Bucks County, PA in 1751 belonging to Johanne. Tax records from 1760 record his farm to be in Maiden Creek Township of Berks County, PA. He owned 70 acres, had 2 horses, 3 cows, adn 3 sheep. His tax was 3 shillings which is about $.80 by todays standards. Maiden Creek is a few miles northeast of Reading, PA In 1775 Johanne deeded his land to his oldest son Christian. There is no mention of the other children or who Johanne's wife was or when Johanne died. Christian was born 1740 or 1741 in PA somewhere. Died between 1830 & 1840 in Westmorland County. He married Margaretta no last name avail. Don't know when she was born or died. Had 8 kids.Last Child William is my 3rd Great Grandfather.Christian married Mrs. Mary McCutcheon 6-1-1821 in Westmorland County. See Gumbert, William and George from Author Jeanne Samsel
