I would like any information on the surname "GUMBAREVIC". My great grandfather was Steve Gumbarevic, and he was born in Slavujevic, Austria-Hungary in 1894. He married a woman named Anna Kezman. His parents were Luka Gumbarevic and Kata Gabor. Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you!!
Susie

Dear Suzie:
Though you have a few more details than I do, here is another one. Steve and Anna were my grandparents. My father (now deceased) Milan (Sr.) was their son, born in Barberton, Ohio. He was one of four children. And there is much more, but first let me know who you are and the meaning of your research? Thanks!

I am Louis Gumbarevic's grand-daughter. Evelyn is my mother, I guess that would make you her cousin. I have been working on this family tree for about a year and keep hitting dead ends; although I do have quite a bit of information, but not as much as I would like. My mom thought that you might know some things that I have not found yet.

Thank you for responding!!

Susie:
You have an uncle named Kenneth(Kenny), who is also my cousin. The Gumbarevic children are Louis(who I'd begun corresponding with just a year ago-quite the landscape artist, by the way!), my dad Milan, and their sisters Kate and Mildred. Kate, I believe, passed away awhile ago. Mildred, I am not certain if or when. My dad had a son by a brief and early marriage, to which a son, Gerald, was born. Gerry changed his last name to Gregg. He is allegedly living somewhere in Ohio now. Before that, a life-long story, only fragments of which I could relate. My dad was an Electrical Engineer for years and years, and had become a teacher of Industrial Electronics before retirement. He had met my mom, Maxine McMillin, in Louisiana, while going to Louisiana State University on his GI Bill benefits. I was born in 1951 in Marion, Indiana. Dad worked for RCA, I think, at the time. My sister, Pam, arrived in 1954. We are the only two they had. Both of us are married. Pam has two daughters, 15 and 20 years old.
I have one stepdaughter, 29 years old, who lives in California. Have you thought about fashioning all the family facts into some kind of book-length novel or maybe a screenplay? Let me know what you think? Also, do you have some specific things that I might know which would help you put together the puzzle? Just ask! Hope to he
ar from you soon.
