THANKSGIVING WEDDINGS OF POPULAR YOUNG PEOPLE AT THE HOME OF W.W. DENNIS
This afternoon the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Dennis, of Ovid, will be the scene of two very pretty weddings when their cousin, Miss Eva D. Dennis is united in marriage to Mr. Arthur Treat and their cousin, Nellie Katherine Dennis, is united in marriage to Mr. LeRoy J. Gumaer. The brides are sisters.
The parlor will be decorated with asparagus fern and white chrysanthemums, and the dining room in white and pink roses. The guests at each wedding will number about thirty and will be received by the bridal parties.
At 2 o’clock, the wedding service uniting in marriage Miss Eva D. Dennis and Mr. Treat will be read by the Rev. J.R. Wooten, of the Methodist church. The bride will wear a becoming gown of cream silk mull and will be unattended. Her bouquet will be yellow roses. At 3:30 o’clock occurs the marriage of Miss Nellie Katherine Dennis and Mr. Gumaer, the wedding service being read by the Rev. J.F. Fryer, of the Congregational church. Miss Dennis will be attired in a beautiful gown of white silk mull and her flowers will be pink roses. She will be unattended.
Immediately following each service, a wedding luncheon will be served by Mrs. Jenks, assisted by the Misses Mabel Jenks and Margaret Woodworth.
The Misses Dennis are among the most popular young ladies of Ovid. They attended the Ovid schools and have spent most of their lives in this village, although Miss Eva Dennis resided for some time in Belding. They were the recipients of many beautiful gifts.
Mr. Treat is a carriage maker and holds a position at Flint where he and his estimable wife will reside. Mr. Gumaer is a saleman in the hardware of Frank Marshall. Mr. and Mrs. Gumaer leave this evening for a wedding trip to Detroit and upon their return will reside in Ovid.
Among the guests from out of town, who will be present at the weddings, are Miss Robinson, of Elsie, and Miss Ellen Knapp, of St. Johns.
