I don't know much about Jane other than what is found on the 1870 census and the date of their marriage. I believe that Wilson and my GGGrand Father were brothers. And I would like to find their parents. Wilson & Jane are buried in Elam Babtist Cemetery, North of Gums Mississippi.

It was a miracle I saw your message about Jane. What I've got is Janie and Wilson Gum, Yalobusha County, Mississippi, their daughter, Frances Estell Gum, born Oct. 1,1890, married Milton Vincent McCormick. They probably lived in Grenada, Ms., but later moved to Durant, Ms. Will try to get it figured out...We always believed Frances Gum, was full blood Indian, her son Mac (another Milton V. McCormick) always said she was. He too has already passed. Any more info, maybe we can share. by e/mail, it'd be a lot easier for me. Thank You Sandy Smith

I saw your post on Ancestry.com from 2001. Frances Estelle McCormick and Milton Vincent McCormick were my grandparents and I could probably provide the information you are looking for. Nancy Pigott tnpigott@bellsouth.net

I can see this message is VERY OLD...but curious...if anyone can answer....
The message states "Janie and Wilson Gum, Yalobusha County, Mississippi, their daughter, Frances Estell Gum, born Oct. 1,1890"...then "We always believed Frances Gum, was full blood Indian"...but how is she full blood Indian if she is the daughter of Janie and Wilson? Are these two different people? Thank you - just trying to understand.

Frances was my grandmother on my mother's side. I don't know where they got that information but she was not full blooded Indian.
