I am looking for Andreas Frederic Gulbrandsen and his wife Grethe Danielsen and 3 children, Carl Albert, Georg, and Ragna Louise who emmigrated from Christiana (Oslo) Norway in 1853. Andreas' sister Ingeborg Marie was my g-g-grandmother. Trying to find living relatives who might have more family information. Thanks!

I also have an Andreas Gulbrandsen in my family along with a sister known to be named Marie. Marie's married name was Hansen and had a daughter named Inger Hansen. Unsure of when they came to US. I have info that there are more sisters and brothers and some pictures if we have the same family.

Thanks for replying. I don't think this is a match but here is more information on my Andreas Gulbrandsen family. His parents were Gulbrand Eriksen and Kari Amundsdatter. His sister's name was Ingeborg Marie Gulbrandsdatter. She married Christen Christensen Nordfoss and I don't think there was ever another marriage to Hansen. Marie and Christen came to Quebec, then to the US and went by Charles Marie Northfoss from then on. They had 6 children - George, Margaret, Carl, Theodore, Marie and William. Karen Taylor

I am married to Steve Gilbetson and I am researching his family tree on behalf of our 6 children. This is what I have. Martin Gulbrandsen married ? Gundagedersen and had William Gulbrandsen. William married Anne Elise Arnesen (parents - Anne Birgette Hansen, Gulbrand Arnesen) They had 9 children, and moved them all the America, and Elis Island changed their names to Gilbertson. Their kids were Gulbran(maybe a d at the end), Halphden, Esther, Adelaide, Oscar and Eleanor (twins), Violet, Florence, and Lila. Gulbran Gulbrandsen was changed to Gilbert Gilbertson. He married Irene Johnson, and later Emma Teuchtler. Born to Irene was Kenneth Gilbertson (deceased '87). Kenneth married Winifred Wildner and had Steve and Craig Gilbertson. I am married to Steve. The other information I have is on the other children of William and Anne Gulbrandsen. Halphden married Ruth and and the lived in Zion, Illinios (it doesn't appear that their 2 daughters had children). Esther married Walt Brillinger and had 2 daughters one named Ila Mae. Adelaide married Clay Myers and had 1 son Thomas. Oscar died a bachelor. (so I guess none of is looking for him!) Eleanor married 2 times, 2nd husband was Bill Cortier, and she also had no children. Violet married Peter Citrano and had James and David. Florence married Paul Klime and had Lynn and Kent. Lila married Don Pritchard and had Marcy and Donna. Some of the children settled in Minnesota, Illinios, California, or Texas. I think the only one still living is Lila, but I haven't heard from her for some time now. We are especially interested in finding relatives still in Norway. There must be some. I searched the other messages and didn't find any matches. Maybe my information can be added to yours so we can find each other. Surely we have "cousins" in all these names!

Thanks for your message. So far I have not learned any more about my Gulbrandsens and so have no matches with yours. You give no dates but I assume your family came over much later than mine, which arrived in 1852 and 1853. I am still waiting to hear from a researcher I have paid to research my Gulbrandsens and if I get any new info that correlates with yours will certainly get back to you. Thanks for your reply! Andreas Frederic Gulbrandsen
Do you have any dates or other family info for Andreas?

Gulbrandsen, Andreas Frederic
From the emigration record I have Andreas was 29 in 1853 so was born abt 1823. His wife Grethe Danielsen was 28, so born abt 1824. The children, Carl Albert, age 5 b abt 1848, Georg Darius age 2 b abt 1851, Ragna Louise age 1/2,b abt 1852 or 53. I believe Andreas Gulbrandsen's parents were Gulbrand Eriksen and Kari Amundsdatter and his sister was Ingeborg Marie Gulbrandsen. I have no proof of the parents to link them to Andreas but it is a guess. Ingeborg Marie was born in Aker parish, Christiana. Does any of this ring a bell? Karen

Re: looking for Gulbrandsen
I'm sorry but I don't know of any connection to the people you mention. The people I am looking for are Andreas Fredrick Gulbrandsen born 1823 and his wife Grethe Danielsen born 1824 and their 3 children Carl Albert, George Darius and Ragna Louise. The emigrated to the US from Norway in 1853 but I can find no trace of them here. Andreas's sister was Ingeborg Marie Gulbrandsen who married Christen Christensen Nordfos with the actual surname being Christensen. Good luck in your search Karen Taylor
