I have also been looking for information to do with the Gulbin history. I have found this information, posted by Meg Gulbin on a website.
Christian GULBIN was born in the village of Werben, in the Spree area near Cottbus, then Prussia, in 1824. His father was Christian (1801-1867), and his mother Anna (1802-1864), maiden name unknown. Both were born and died in Werben.
Anna LESKA, (possibly Lieska or similar), was born about 1826 in Burg, also in the Spree forest. Anna's father was Christian and her mother Elizabeth HOMICH (or HONICH).
Christian GULBIN and Anna LESKA married in Burg in 1847. Their first 4 children died in Werben in infancy. They emigrated from Hamburg to South Australia in 1854. Six further children were born in Australia. After about 5 years in the Barossa Valley, the family subsequently relocated to German farming settlements in Hamilton, and later Murtoa, in Victoria. Christian and Anna were Wendish Lutherans.
Christian died in Murtoa in 1903 after remarrying Johanne Cooper (nee GOLDSCHMIDT) in 1898. Anna died in Murtoa in 1896.

That is all the information I have been able to find so far. Hopefully that helped you, and hopefully you will get to read this reply!

Hi, I'm also a descendent of Christian and Anna. I've made a Gulbin tree on this site showing our branch.

Did you know that the Gulbin name is Wendish (Sorbian)? It's listed on this site http://www.wendishheritage.org.au/wends/families.php
