Virginia:
We may have something here. Here is what I
know and some of this info is not exact. My
grandfather, my father's father, was born in
Conway,
Arkansas in 1880 I think. Could it
be 1883 instead? Entirely possible. His
name was
Eli Alphonso Guinn. It is also in-
teresting that you mentioned that your Eli's
father's name was
Chesley R. Guinn. The name
Chesley has been passed down regularly in my
limb of the tree. In fact my father's name
was
Fillmore Chesley Guinn. Here is the rest
of my story:
My grandfather had four brothers, three of
whom were named Henry, Tom and John B. Guinn.
My father's mother's maiden name was
Harp.
My father,
Fillmore Chesley Guinn, was born
in Vamoosa, OK in 1911 and shortly after he
was born the family moved to
Guthrie, OK.
They continued to move around some and lived
in Muskogee, Konawa and finally settled in
Ada.
He had one half brother named
Eli A. Guinn,
Jr. who was a career military man. As you
would expect, he moved around quite a bit but
returned to
Ada when he retired.
My dad and my mother, Sibyl Lee
Hubbert, were
Ada High School sweethearts, married in 1937
and moved to
Houston due to the lack of
career opportunities in
Ada. I was born in
1939 and my brother,
Bartley M. Guinn in 1941
in Houston. Bart now lives in the greater
Dallas area.
After my dad's death in 1977 my mother
returned to
Ada and lived there until her
passing October. 1999.
I have probably bored you with all of this
but, if you are continuing your family
research, who knows what might help.
If you see any possible connection between
our respective branches please let me know.
I have posted this data on several genealogy
boards so if this info is redundant, I
apologize.
Thank you for your interest.
Regards,
Chuck
