Hi
I am searching for any information on Louis (Chrysostom)Guichard. I think I may have found a marriage to Marie Lequeu in Belgium in 1742. I may have found his birth in France. I have traced a son - Laurence Guichard born in London in 1752 and another son Louis born 1755 in London. I have not found a death for Louis Chrysostom Guichard although someone stated that he died in 1755. I would appreciate any information on this family and especially Louis death.

Dear Christine,
you are the answer to a prayer.
If you have the birth place for Louis Chrysostom I can then maybe start going back further.
Louis C started my family in the U.K and I have what is probably a complete family tree, so whatever I can help you with just ask.

Hi
I hope I am correct! I found a Louis Guichard born 3rd August 1722 in Vienne-le-Chateau, France. His parents are Nicholas Guichart & Francoise Oudinet. It does not mention his middle name of Chrysostom.
There are 2 possible marriages for a Louis Guichard both to a Marie. The one I think is correct is the marriage of Louis to Marie Lequeu on 27th May 1742 in Palisseul, Luxembourg, Belguim. Our relative had 2 sons in London, Laurence born 1752 and Louis born 1755. We are related to Laurence Guichard through his son Henry. I would love to view your family tree.
I note from a previous thread that you believe Louis came to England around 1748.How did you find that information? I am curious to find out the cause of his apparent death in 1755, when his son Louis was only born on 23rd December 1754.
Hope this helps,
Christine

Hi Christine,
We do not know why Louis Chrystosome died as the records do not show. According to the records we have, he was first registered as a goldsmith in 1747 but we cannot find out when or where he first arrived in the U.K.
We do know that his death was registered 14.7.1755 at St Ann,s SOHO.
We are also decended through Henry, down through Walter Edward and Alan Raymond.
If we assume that M.LEQUEU is wrong who is the other Marie.
We have been given the same information as you from the Hugueunot society, but because Louis is such a common name
we have remained skepticle, however as we now have this information from 2 different people I will try to get more informaton from France and Belgium. My only problem is that he used the middle name Chrysostome on a couple of documents and it makes no sence if it was a name he was not
born with.
Anyway, keep in touch and lets see if we can get back beyond Louis.
Regards,
Sid

Hi Christine,
best wishes to you and your family for 2009.
I am making 2009 my year to find and prove the birth of Louis Chrysostom. I have recorded your info and have now set out to either prove or not your details. I am currently
awaiting details from both the goldsmith and hugeunot societies, before continuing further study.
Although you have confirmed the same info received from another source, I feel that it is still not conclusive.
I have noticed the amount of different sites you have studied but feel you also have some doubts.
To save us both researching the same files let me know if I can help you with anything.
Regards,
S.A.Guichard

I am doing research on the descendant of Henry Guichard, through his son Walter. Walter had a daughter Eliza Olive Guichard born about 1874. She married in 1893 Thomas William Figg and had four children, Thomas, Olive Maud, Ellen Louisa, and Rose Harriet. (There have been a child born prior to the marriage. Thomas William and daughter Ellen Louisa died in 1901 of TB. Daughter Olive died in 1920 of TB and her death was registered by grandmother Eliza Guichard Ashby.
I have traced son Thomas Figg but cannot find daughter Rose or Eliza Olive Guichard Figg. Neither appear on 1911 census as Figg. Olive was living with her grandmother when she died.
Henry's son Walter married Eliza Olive and was dead before 1901 census. Eliza Olive Guichard Senior married Charles Ashby in Q4 1901.
Two Figg children, both males are living with the Ashby's in 1911 census, but no mother. We have not located either a marriage or death certificate for Eliza Figg or Rose Harriet Figg. Thomas' son remember visiting his grandmother, whose husband (name unknown)who operating a crane on the river. Can you offer any insight into this?
Wendy

Hi Wendy,
Sorry about the long time between notes but life has been a little busy.
I am busy going over the family tree and putting in as much detail as I can find. I have started with Henry and in between looking up info on the Figg family. I have found that Thomas W born 1894 married Edith Westwood (J.F.M 1918 Greenwich)1d-1615 and had at least 2 children. Thomas Alfred b JFM 1919 1d 1345
Maud Edith b JFM 1924 1d 1509
Alfred married a miss Sugden in 1946 London
Maud married a mstr Sweeney in 1946 London
I have made contact with a Figg family in England and am hoping they can give me details on Rose Harriet.
I have found Rose Harriet married a Mstr Wyers JFM 1926 Stepney 1c 292 and a Mstr Alfred Goldsmith JFM 1952 East Ham 5a 102 still have not found her death but will look for Rose Goldsmith.
Take care and Best Wishes,
Sid
P.S I will be in Toronto the afternoon of the 22 Sept and would love to make contact.
