Our great grandfather was Josef Guggenheim, b. 1846 in Tiengen. Tiengen/Waldshut is in Baden, Germany, on the border with Switzerland, and is where the island is that the old Jewish cemetary on the Rhine is located. His sister was Sophia Guggenheim, b. 1839 who married Herz BOLLAG in Rust. Their parents were Heinrich (Hirsch) Guggenheim and Maria Weiler. I believe they may have come from Endingen/Lengnau. I also know someone who is descended from Samuel Guggenheim b. about 1820 in Stuhlingen, married Klara Helena Mayer and moved to Tiengen.
Looking for info. on Heinrich/Hirsch Guggenheim and Maria Weiler AND for descendants of Joseph Guggenheim, who moved to NYC about 1880. His wife was Clara, his children Fannie, Henrietta, Isaac, Albert, and Carrie, all born in NY between 1880-1900.

Re: Endingen, Tiengen, NYC
I was interested in you email because I finally found a birthplace for Louis Guggenheimer in a marriage record from NYC in 1908. He lists his birthplace as Thingen, which appears to be in the kreis of Waldshut, district of Konstanz. I am trying to find out if this is the same as Tiengen. Meyer's doesn't show a town by that name, but there are some references to it on the internet. He married a Sophia Mayer of Aschbach, Bamberg and had a daughter Martha (2nd marriage). He lists his parents as Jacob Guggenheimer and Mina Epstein. His son by his first marriage, Emanuel Guggenheimer, somehow became Daniel Emanuel Guggenheim and seemed to suddenly not be Jewish anymore...at least he never mentioned it to his children who were Catholic.

Re: Endingen, Tiengen, NYC
Hi- I have done extensive research on my Guggenheim line and i am at a dead-end right around 1820-40. My great-great-great grandfather was Bernhard Guggenheim and he was born in Tiengen approximately 1820-1840. I believe he had a brother Salamon or Solomon around that time.
Would you share your tree with me to see if there are any connections?
-Jeff

Re: Endingen, Tiengen, NYC
Very nice to hear from you Jeff! It seems like all the Guggenheims from Tiengen were related. I have found two other Tiengen Guggenheims researchers, Nancy Hano, is one, who are related to my family and who have done more work in putting together the tree than I have. I am happy to talk any time but would suggest you look at Nancy Hano's tree and get more information from her. I did not have Bernhard G. on my own tree but they may have him or know the connection to him.
