I have very little information on the GUFFEYs from Alabama. I am aware their line can be traced back to Ephraim Monroe GUFFEY who is recorded as having been born ca. 1765 in VA. (incidently, this line of VA. GUFFEYs can be traced back to 1670 in old Rappahannock Co., VA. where the name was recorded as Maguffe/maguffee/maguffey) He settled in Jackson Co., AL. in the early 1800s and records show he had at least six children:
1) John GUFFEY b. 1800 in KY;
2) Lutetia GUFFEY b. ca. 1808 in KY and mrd. Clinton Kirby in 1853;
3) Luther GUFFEY b. 1809 in KY;
4) John Henry GUFFEY b. ca. 1810;
5) George R. GUFFEy b. ca. 1810; and
6) Ephraim Underwood GUFFEY b. 1812.
