I am researching my family and I was wondering if u could tell me if your family is of the Norwegian decent? I have a name close to the spelling of yours but don't know if mine is spelled right.
The name i am looking for is Gudbrunsdatter

Thanks

Dear Heather, In researching my family tree, I've found the last names of Gudbrandsen Trulsdatter. It appears your "Guderunsdatter" could be a combination of these. I am sure it is Norwegian!!!!! Sincerely, Don

Actually, both Gudbrandsen and Gudbrandsson are "correct", so to speak....they are both patronymic version of "Gudbrand". The difference is just that the Icelandic version has two "s" and uses -son, while the Scandinavian (mostly Norwegian, I guess) has a single "s" and ends in -sen.

Anyhow, if you need any help tracking down the Icelandic "Gudbrandsson", just let me know....I'll look them up in the "Islendingabok" database, which covers practically all known Icelanders.
