WASHINGTONVILLE – Jason Edward Gudat, 31, died unexpectedly, April 25, 2011, from injuries sustained on the job at East Fairfield Coal Company in Petersburg, Pa..

Jason was born Nov. 19, 1979, in Salem, Ohio.

He graduated from South Range High School and the Mahoning Valley Joint Vocational School of Electrical Engineering in 1998 and Kent State University in 2000.

He was a journeyman electrician of Local Union IBEW. He had worked at Haus Cider Mill & Farm, Budget Rental Car, American Beauty Landscape, Dickey Electric, Gulu Electric and Stryde Tree Service. Jason had worked at Haus Fruit Farm part-time for 18 years. He was an avid hunter, gardener and fisherman.

Jason is survived by his mother and stepfather, Karen and Arden Harris of Salem; his father, Ron (Pat Marsh) Gudat of Salem, Ohio; grandmother, Mildred Loudon of Salem; sister, Stephanie (Brian) Burns of Mineola, N.Y.; and twin sister, Jaymie (Josh) Andrews of Leetonia, Ohio.
He is also survived by two stepbrothers, Clyde (Connie) Harris of Leetonia and Arden Jr. (Becky) Harris of Salem; and four stepsisters, Elaine (Don) Clark of Salem, Theresa Bostwick of Lancaster, Pa., Crystal Mountz of Salem and Joy (Ron) Shawver of Salem.

He was a beloved uncle to five nieces, Katherine, Lisa, Jessica, Amber and Nicholette; nephew, Jeremiah; and several stepnieces and nephews.
He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Janice and George Black of Lisbon, Max and Marion Gudat of Leetonia and Donald and Susan Gudat of Salem and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Jerald Loudon; paternal grandparents, Eric and Catherine Gudat; and an uncle, Walter Gudat.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. John Selders officiating.

Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Calla Cemetery.
