Hello!
Thank you for your reply! I was THRILLED to see a posting on this as Gudalewicz interest seems limited.

I do not believe there is a Monika in the Gudalewicz search rec'd but I will check again. Stay tuned!

And a BIG YES on the Stanewick family. After Frank, our grandfather Jan's older brother, died in Lowell (hit by car while walking) the eldest son (Boleslaw aka Willard) changed his surname and the others followed suit. In my Stankiewicz research I visited the cemetery in Norwood and noticed the change in spelling on a headstone. Long story short, I found Chester in Maine. (Will send you a personal message with more detail.)

Anyway, Chester's mother was Josephine Butkiewicz from a small village near Trakai/Troki as were the Stankiewicz Family. The Stankiewicz village is named Pilalowka and some of the family remains in the home and in the area. Josephine married Frank in Poland/Russia and joined him 3 years later with Boleslaw. Did you know Josephine's sister in law (Frank's sister) Wincenta Urbanowicz? Or do you recall the name Osopowich from Norwood? Sorry, no Sochachi or variations in my research.

Let's keep in touch!

Hello E...I was happy to get your reply. First of all, I already have some info on Chester Stanewick as he became my uncle when he married my dad's sister Mary Murray. So I am related to him on my Dad's side. I remember visiting him, Mary and their 3 sons in Maine and I have a little info about their marriage, his military stuff etc. He passed away in 2004, Mary in 2003.I was just always intrigued that Chester called my Mom (Josephine Bialkowska Murray) "cousin"...I guess he meant it loosely that they shared a Polish heritage, lived in the same tenement building in South Norwood or he was related to her through his wife. The name Osopowich does not sound familiar, but Urbanowicz does, I'll have to look through my mess of notes and see why. One of Chester's boys is asking a few family questions now and I'll be sure to pass that info on about Frank and Josephine and her homestead town in Poland. So the 3 siblings were Frank, Jan and Wincenta (who became Urbanowicz) ? I remember my Mom and Aunt talking about Boley, that could have been Willard. The only person I really knew from all this is Chester. It's just that the other names seem a bit familiar and I was wondering if they were really blood relatives not just by marriage. If you want to reach me directly you can email me at dmrkls@aol.com.....thanks for your reply, Alice

For anyone interested in GUDALEWICZ family.

I have received the results of a search conducted by the Lithuania State Historical Archives on our Gudalewicz branch. Our Gudalewicz family married into Juszkiewicz/Juskiewicz family. They were a part of the Senieji Trakai Parish.

I am happy to share results and compare notes.
