All of the Gucks appear to be from the same Bavarian Family. i did not know this before but I am slowly trying to prove it. Can you give me any more info on your Gucks like who were Valentines parents?

Thanks!

Actually I am a widow and it was my husband (and children) who are related to you, but I have done some research on the family. The family came from Bavaria in 1862 and Valentin homesteaded in in Stearns Co. near Rice, MN (St Cloud). There were a large number of children (I have all their names if you are interested) of whom your ancestor, Valentine, was the oldest. Our family ancestor, Leo, was one of 6 year old twins at the time of immigration. My son, John Guck, of Fairfield, Iowa has a lot of information as well as the Perham group genealogy given him by someone in Perham --maybe Dennis Guck?? Get back with me is you want more and give me your email address and I will send you my complete genealogy.

Your post was a long time ago so I am not sure that anyone is still monitoring it but my great grandmother was Regina (Antonia) Guck married to Henry Weisz. She would have been the sister to Valentine Jr. Son of Valentine and Dorothea Guck. If this connects please contact back. I am need a lot more info from my family. I will be in the area of Stearns co. in May and would like to have more info if there is any available. Thanks

I found the immigration passenger manifest for Valentin Guck and his children arriving August 2, 1866 in New York on the ship "Adler"

Upon arrival in New York Harbor, August 2, 1866 on the ship "Adler", the Gucks are comprised of the following:
Valentine age 50 (b. 1816)
Margaretha age 49 (b. 1817)
Geo M. age 20 (b. 1846) **note this has to be Anna M, listed as female
Margt age 19 (b. 1852)
Leo age 10 (b. 1856)
Julius age 10 (b. 1856)
Maximillian age 8 (b. 1860)
Falentian age 6 (b. 1860 - this would be Thaddeus)
Regina age 6
further down the page are Valentine age 21 (b. 1845) and Gregor age 16 (b. 1850)

It appears Valentin was first married to Margaretha and she must've died sometime bet 1866-1869 as by 1870 Valentin was married to Dorothea who was born in 1827.
also one of the children of Valentin listed his mother's name as Dorothea Thene.
Leo's daughter Clara Guck married Peter Schreder who's son Jim married my mother's cousin Faye Bromenschenkel.
