I'm looking for any information on the Guagenti family. Frank and Jennie Guagenti's children are Paul, Esther, John, Peter, Santa, Josephine and Mary Alice. I think Frank had a daughter Annie and Jennie a son Joseph Sinagra.

Frank (Francisco) and Jennie (Giovannina) were my grandparents. They owned a farm in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
What information were you looking for?

They were my great grandparents. Esther Guagenti was my grandmother but died when my Mom was only 16. I'm looking for any info regarding them. I haven't been able to find who their parents are or siblings. I think each may have been married before but haven't found proof. If my info is correct, Frank had a daughter, Annie, and Jennie had a son, Joseph Sinagra, before they got married.

According to the papers I have copies of, Giovannini Guagenti was born October 24, 1887 in Ventimiglia, Italy. On another paper she was born in Ventimnolia, Palermo, Italy. She was married to Mr. Sinagra (do not know his first name) together they had a son Joseph Sinagra born 7/6/1903 now deceased. She also had Paul Guagenti 12/19/1910, John born 2/19/1914, Esther born 10/26/1912, Peter born 7/5/16, Santa born 6/5/1920, Josephine born 4/26/23 and Mary Alice born 2/2/1926 - all deceased. She arrived in New York from Palermo, Italy on 11/28/1899 on the ship Florie Rubettubu Archimede. I have a paper written in Italian - that I can't read - called Ufficio Dello Stato Civile in which someone (I thought to be Jennies) but has a date of Feb. 18 1885, so I'm not sure what that is about. Jennie died Aug. 29, 1962 of diabetic adidosis. Her father was John Milianta and mother Esther Abrascato. Abrascato is a very common name in Ventimiglia di Sicilia. Frank was born Nov. 11, 1878 in Vigore, Italy and died Oct. 15, 1941 in Benton Harbor, MI. He entered the US 12/17/1900 on the vessel Victoria out of Palermo. Giovannina became a citizen Aug. 12, 1947 Nauralization #316618 Chicago, IL Petition #320791, Alien Registration #2551162. That's as much info as I have. If Esther was your Great Grandmother, then you must be a grandchild of either Emma, Jean, Kathy or Ernie. I am Mary (Guagenti) Hill's daughter. Hope this helps you on your search. I ran into a brick wall from this point in mine.

Hi Linda,

I thought that might be you. Esther was my grandmother and Kathy is my Mom. It looks like we might have hit the same brick wall :( I had names for Jennie's parents but I wasn't sure if they were the correct names. My Mom gave me a cd with lots of pictures, many of which I have no idea who they are. It also shows the document that is in italian (wish I could read it). As for Frank, I haven't found his parents yet or any siblings he or Jennie might have had. If I find anything else out, I'll let you know. Thanks for getting back to me.

My G-grandfather was Vito guagenti, b.1876, d. 1960, in Chicago. His wife was Rosie. They had 3 daughters, Mary (my grandmother), Margherite and Rosie, all born in Sicily.
No idea maiden name of Rosie. No info on sibling of either Vito or Rosie. if you have any information, I'd appreciate it.

I imagine they could be related somehow, but have no proof to back that up. The dates and places match close. Perhaps a brother? Here is the information on the Guagenti family that I have:

I wish I could help you out but I have yet to come across a Vito Guagenti. If you read the post from tlcnana 1, I have all that info as well. It would be nice if it turned out they were related so I could get past this brick wall I've hit. Please keep me posted if you find a connection and I'll give you any info you need. Good luck with your search.
