Karen, Emil Gstalder married a relative of mine: Louise Evilhare. I have several old photos of Emil and Louise and other family members. Louise's grandson, now living in Williamsport, PA, let me borrow a very old photo album that had been in the 1936 flood. I restored most of the photos and have them on my computer. If you have interest in seeing them, I can email them to you. If you want additional information about the Gstalder's, Louise's grandson might be able to help you. I know when I visited with him, he spoke fondly of Emil and had some very interesting stories to tell. By the way, I see your surname is Pineau. I've spent a lot of time exploring Mount Carmel Cemetery, and I remember seeing the name Pineau there along with a large number of other French Canadian surnames. My great grandfather, Joseph Mosso/Masseaux was also a French Canadian. Unfortunately, his grave was never marked, and they didn't keep records at the time he was buried in 1880. Debbie

Hi Debbie,
I would enjoy any info you can send me regarding the descendency of John Emil GSTALDER and Louise EVILHARE. Would also enjoy seeing any photos.
From what I have heard, some of the PINEAU's buried at Mount Carmel Cemetery are my husbands ancestors.
Have you been in touch with some of the other GSTALDER descendents. Serge in France, and Nick in PA.
Karen

Hi Karen, Here's what I have on Emil and Louise:
Emil M. Gstalder (1870 - 1952) married Louise E. Evilhare (1881 - 1954). This was her second marriage. Her first was to Anthony Horn, and they had a son Charles Francis Horn, born May 26, 1898 and died Jan. 29, 1990. Charles is buried next to his wife Ethel May Peterman in Saint Boniface Cemetery in Williamsport, PA. Louise and Anthony were not married long, so Charles always thought of Emil as his father. Charles Horn Jr. (I always call him Mr. Horn) is the "grandson" of Emil. He told me that even though Emil wasn't his grandfather by blood, he certainly always thought of him as his grandfather. Mr. Horn is a talented house painter, something he learned from Emil who was an artist when it came to painting a home. Mr. Horn painted his steel back door so well, that my husband and I were sure it was a beautiful old oak door. It's too bad that the stories about Emil will be lost someday. Before I forget...Emil and Louise never had children of their own. They are buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery next to her parents. Where would you like me to email the photos of Emil and Louise? One more thing, I am not related to the Gstalder family, just to Louise Evilhare. Her sister Lillian is my great grandmother. Debbie

Serge,

Did you ever succeed in reestablishing contact with Karen Pineau? You and she might be interested to know that the couple she was initially looking for can be found in my main file in the WorldConnect Project database:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

You will see that I have some information on the maternal ancestry of François Pierre Gstalder, and quite a bit of information on the ancestry of his wife Adèle Peter (NOT Lindenberger; that was her mother's surname).

I would be happy to share my information with you and/or Karen if you're interested.

Robert Behra

I'm still alive, but not very well.
Hope that you are all alright.
My email address is still valid.
