Looking for relatives of Eleanora Grzegorczyk, b. 07/25/1884 in Przylaj, (Poland) Russia, m. Josef Plocharczyk and lived in Manchester and Derry, NH. According to my grandmother Helen, Eleanora's parents died young in Poland and she was left an orphan when her older sister died. Eleanora's niece lived in Philadelphia, PA. and my aunt Florentina (Flossie)took Eleanora to visit her. Would like to get in touch with any relatives.

Hi there!

I found your posting for Gregorski/Grzegorczyk.

I'm trying to find any information I can on my great grandfather, Joseph Jacob Grzegorczyk. I am told he resided in Grodna or Chudek Poland. I believe I found a passenger record for him on the Weimar from Hamburg, May 1907 arriving in Baltimore. He also went by the names of Zckowski and Gregorski in the US and resided in Philadelphia, Thompsonville/Enfield and moved around considerably in the early years, which is why we probably can't find any records of him. Parents where Michael Grzegorczyk and Rose Krzykowski.

Just thought I'd take a shot at this and see if you happened to find any information in your search.

Thank you so much,

Lynn Gregorski

Hi Lynn,

I am at a loss on the Grzegorczyk's. I have a tape my grandmother made with an Ellis Island rep and all she can remember is that her mothers sister had a daughter that came to PA. My great grandmother went there to visit, but that's all I know. Sorry, not much to go on....

It's possible we could be related. My great grandfather Josef 1889 was also orphaned and lived in Philadelphia for a while before moving to CT. Is there a way to connect our trees or lines somehow to explore further. I'm a bit of a newbie with this.

Also, I may hire an expert to try to find my great grandfather because we have been able to locate very very little on him, so that may shed more light.

Can you be more specific about where Przylaj is? My family roots are from Grodna, Wielkopolskie, Poland .

I have tried to locate that town on line, but nothing comes up, I even tried to buy a map with that town name on it from 1900 and she couldn't find it either. Also Lomza was mentioned and not sure if this is a "county" or what. You can check out my Plocharczyk tree on ancestry.com, but I have been working on this for awhile with no results.

I can help with that. Go to askthelibrarian. I learned this from one of the Ancestry webinars. It's free and you can go three requests per year. They mailed me about 6 different maps of the towns I was looking for from 1700s to present day with some reference material as well. It really helped. I was lost too.

Thanks Lynn, will have to check it out. If you go to ancestry.com and to my Roberts Family Tree you'll be able to see how little I have on my Plocharczyk's and Grzegorczyk's. You can email me at ghinx@comcast.net.

Did you search Valencia? For some reason I thought I remember seeing that come up in some searches.
