Grzebien family from Poland

Surnames: Grzebien, Ryba, Sosnowski
I am looking for any information regarding the following people and would appreciate any help you could give me:

John Walter Ryba, (born 1879, possibly in Lubcza, Pilzno, Poland, died in 1957, Chicago), married to Mary Katherine Grzebien (born 1884? in Galicia? Poland, died in 1971, California). John's father's name may have been Valintine.

US Census records show John as sometimes coming from "Poland" and other times as from “Austrian Poland”, and Mary is listed as from “Galicia Austria”, “Galicia Poland”, and just “Poland”. John and Mary had about 9 children (based on family history), 5 who reached adulthood - Walter, Cecilia (Sr. Mary Anilla), Helen or Ellen (Sr. Ellen/Gerardia), John Walter, and Mary.

Mary Katherine Grzebien's parents were John Grzebien (possibly in the military and according to family history died in a railroad accident in Poland), married to Marianna Sosnowski. John may have come from Wies Pisarowcsze Gnieworz, Mala Polska (apologies if I have mangled the Polish language or geography). Neither John or Marianna immigrated to the US and may have had a son named Stanislaw.

Thanks, Nancy

Nancy,

I do not know if is the person you are looking for but there is a Walter Grzebien in Agawam Ma. U.S.A. My parents move to Southwick Ma. (a town next to Agawam) in the mid 1960's and use to get our mail mixed up once in a while. As far as the rest of the names they do not ring a bell with any of my own family tree.

GOOD LUCK!
Kevin Grzebien

Hi. My family is from the "Galicia" part of Poland, specifically a couple of miles from the small town Frysztak, in a rural village area. Stanislaw Grzebien was my Grandfather. He had 3 sons, Theodore, Eugene, and Boleslaw. Boleslaw is my father. Stanislaw married Stanislawa Ziarnik. I hope that may be of help. I still have strong ties (2014) to were my grandfather and father lived, as I frequent it every summer. The family land is right next to one of two major railway bunkers where Hitler and Mussolini met in August 1941. The village name is Stepina. Next summer I will dig further, as all the families are very close in the village. I hope there are still some elders left that can remember their grandparents. To note, when my father escaped communism to come to America he changed his last name to "Grebin" as it was easier for the Americans to pronounce.
