Hello,

I've done some genealogy research. My line ends in illegitimacy circa 1823 and my surname is Bridgewater. But I've found a relative within 9 generations who has the same y-chromosome as me and he is a Grubb, so I am looking for more information about the Grubbs of Shropshire, in particular around the area of Stoke St. Milborough. Any and all information about Shropshire Grubbs would be useful.

I really want to find out the true identity of my ancestors.

Nicholas J. Bridgewater

Hello Nicholas,

I am in the process of investigating your "Grubb" links.

Thomas Grubb who married Mary Wilkes would have been born @1729, as his marriage licence gives his age as 34+, and of Brampton Bryan. I have two potential baptisms in 1727 & 1728 for the parish of Aymestry, Thomas son of Henry/Isabell plus John/Jane respectively. I suspect the John/Jane baptism is the correct one, as they were resident in Brampton Bryan in later years. Once I have sorted out some of the material I will let you have results. This is part of my own family tree.

Regards,

Joe Grubb.

Hello Nicholas,

I am currently trying to find some more information with reference to John / Jane.

There were also a John / Jane of Leintwardine who were baptising children from 1701 to 1721. John Grubb married Jane Dodd in 1700 at Leintwardine.

Whether this would be the same John / Jane of Amestrey is debateable. The John / Jane of Aymestry baptised two children one of whom was Thomas (1728).

John / Jane of Leintwardine also baptised a Thomas in 1718, who in turn had children. This would tend to confirm that they were seperate couples.

I will let you know when further results transpire.

Regards,

Joe.

Have you tried posting your DNA markers info of the GRUBB - BRIDGEWATER matching to the web site,
www.ysearch.org since then.

Was curious who else, other surnames that you may match with?

Shropshire is also listed on that site as a match to my MILLS descendant.

Again, just curious.

I seem to be "out on my own", with no close matches with other surnames at the moment, or indeed with any close matches in the Grubbs project at FTDNA.
