I'm also looking for Ohio Grubes. I have an Elizabeth Katherine Grube (b. Jan 8 1846, d. Jul 18, 1919) who married Bernard Voskuhl. I think they both may be buried in Maria Stein, Ohio. The only child I know of is Bernard Voskuhl, my husband's grandfather. Would love to have more information about either the Grube's or the Voskuhl's.

I have some spotty records showing two Bernard Voskuhl's one of whom married a Mary Catherine. They lived in or near Pittsburgh during the late 1880 -90's.

My mother's maiden name was Voskhul

Bob,
Thanks for the info. I had not traced our Voskuhl's out of the state of Ohio. Where is your mother from? Were either of your Bernard Voskuhl's related to the Grubes? I have Bernard, but don't know where he was from (I'll now check out PA) and Anthony Bernard, his son, who was from Ohio. Anthony was born in the late 1800s. I'd love to share what ever other information I might have with you.

My limited records for the my side of the Voskuhl family has a Benard born in Germany about 1816. He married Mary Katherine Hengelsberg in 1848. He was naturalized in 1852 in Pittsburgh and died in that city in 1896.

One of his children was Bernard Anton (Anthony) who was born on 2/28/1866. I have no additional information on this individual.

My Grandfather, also Anthony, was the son of Herman Joseph Voskuhl, a brother to Bernard Anton. He and my family lived in either Pittsburgh and/or Beaver Falls, Pa.

WHat little information I have comes from the work of a Harold Gorman, from Ohio. I believe he was a descendant of Bernard Anton.

I have no information related to the Grube's but my data is sparse.

If any of this rings any bells please reply to me directly at marjebob@aol.com

Thanks,

Bob

I knew a lady here in Los Angeles that was named Voskhul. She was from Bimington New York. (sorry about the spelling) That is such an unusual name that I could never forget it. I don't know if it was her married name or maiden but it definately was Voskhul.

I recently received a research report from the Archives of the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese on my gg grandmother Caherine M. HENGELSBERG, and other HENGELSBERGS. One of the items listed is:
St. Philomena Church Marriage Records
8 Feb 1848 - Bernh. VOSKUHLE, Prussia, son of Bernh and Ther VOSKUHLE was married to Kath HENGELSBERG, Osnabrück, daughter of Georg and Angela HENGELSBERG. Witnesses:
Fr. Christ. Henne, Fr. Stain.

My gg grandmother, Catherine M. HENGELSBERG,
Osnabrück, was married to Joseph Frederick (Fridrick), or Frederick Joseph DITTMAN, Osnabrück.

I believe that all may be related, but, I imagine that the connection is made in Osnabrück. Any HENGELSBERG and DITTMAN information will be appreciated

Hello from TX. I have a Bernard Voskuhl born Dec 16, 1876 who married Anna Dahlinghaus. They had children Wiro, Julitta, Werner and Rita.

I have several hits for Bernard, so yours may be a different one than my family.

I also have Anthony as a son of Bernard (Ben) and Anna Voskuhl. However, Anthony died at just 2 years old.
