SATELLITE BEACH, FL: Lanita Grube Minnich passed away Sunday, June 1st, 2014 at her home in Satellite Beach, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
She was born in Christiansberg, Ohio in 1937 to the late Dwight and Marjorie Grube.
Lanita was a proud graduate of Graham High School and earned her Bachelor's of Nursing degree from the Jewish School of Nursing in Cincinnati, OH.
She married Joseph Minnich on December 6, 1958, and moved with him to Pensacola, Florida, where he was stationed in the US Navy.
After his leaving the Navy, they returned to Ohio, where Lanita worked in nursing in a variety of positions, including working in a physician's office, as a scrub nurse in an operating room, and as a floor nurse in a large hospital.
She retired from nursing in 1979.
An enthusiastic traveller, she would frequently bring home salt and pepper shakers as souvenirs of her and Joe's trips.
Lanita was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, with her longest associations with Calvary United Methodist Church in Marion, OHIO, and St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Indialantic, Fl. She also enjoyed quilting, and collecting cook books.
She is survived by two children, Steven (and spouse Debbie) Minnich of Tipp City, OH, Marcia Minnich Barnes of Satellite Beach, Florida; and three grandchildren, Richard Lucas Minnich and Amy Minnich of Ohio and Heather Barnes of Florida: and two sisters and one brother in Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Indialantic, Fl., on Saturday, June 14th at 1PM, with a reception immediately following in the church Fellowship Hall.
A second service will be held later this year in Ohio to intern both Lanita's and Joe's ashes.
