They were originally from Poland, but the borders changed throughout the years, so maybe saying Germany is right too.

I found an address card of where Thomas J & Dorothy lived in 1930 Census. They lived with a Frank E & Mary Grover, so I assumed they are related. I found Mary's death notice and it appears the name was Americanized - it originally was something like "GRZYWACZ"

I will try to find the death notice for Frank, which would be more helpful, s it might show if he was a brother of your grandfather.

P.S. - We apparently are 6th cousins, with the connection being the AUGUSTINE family (Mary Jackson's maiden name).
