Doing further research on this ancestor reveealed that the Frederick Gross with the Renstchler sons was actually _Fredericka_. However, in the 870 census there is listed a Frederick Gross 44yo cabinet maker born in German, wife Margret 38yo born in Hoesse-Darmstadt with the following children George 13y, Charles 12y, AND Barbara 9y, Anna 9y, and Margret 3y. The dates and ages fit so I think this is him. I have not yet been able to find death certificates for Frederick, Elizabeth or Margret.
