My great grandmother was also a Helen Gronski :) She came to Philly, though, and died in the 1940s.
You might want to start with her death certificate; hopefully that will have her parents names on it.
Do you know when she came to the US, or if she was naturalized? I found naturalization papers for my Helen, and they were hugely helpful because they have more detail than many other documents....for example, a census or death cert might just say she's from Poland, but naturalization papers should list the town, what ship she arrived on and when, etc.
Also search with the last name Gronska, since that would be the female version of the surname, especially before she came to the US.
Oh, and if you ever decide to do DNA testing through Ancestry, let me know! I tested back in Jan, maybe it'll show if our Gronski's are related!
