NEW MIDDLETOWN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in New Middletown, for Albert W. Groner, 74, who passed away Saturday evening, November 3, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio.

Albert was born on Sept. 23, 1938, in Fryburg, Pa.,(Clarion County) a son of Walter and Marion Bummer Groner and came to the Mahoning Valley when he was 18 years of age.

He was a welder at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company, U.S. Steel-Ohio Works and retired from GM Lordstown, Ohio as a welder in 2003.

He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports and was an avid fan of the Youngstown State University basketball and football, and the Cleveland Browns.
Albert also enjoyed spending time and having reunions with all of his friends from Fryburg.

Albert married the former Gloria J. Sapio on Oct. 10, 1964.

Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Karen E. Groner, at home; two sons, James A. (Erin) Groner of Petersburg and Thomas W. (Leanne) Groner of Boardman, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Grace, Aaron, Tommy, Joey, Anthony and Patrick Groner.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joanne M. Beary; and one grandchild, Sam Groner.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers, Ohio.
