Annie Grogg
DAYTON - Annie Jane Grogg, 93, a resident of Route 1, Dayton died early Friday at Camelot Nursing Home, where she had been a patient since Nov. 10, 1987.
She was born Sept. 24, 1895, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Javins Howdyshell. She had lived in the Briery Branch community her entire life.
She was a member of Briery Branch Church of the Brethren.
On Oct. 13, 1913, she married Cameron A. Grogg, who died earlier.
Surviving are four daughters, Myrl Curry and Inez Knicely, both of Dayton, Maxine Tusing of Bridgewater and Zelma Knicely of Harrisonburg, two sons, Robert Grogg of Lynchburg and Garth Grogg of Boston; one sister, Willie Long of Mogadore, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-granddaughter.
A funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Briery Branch Church of the Brethren by the Revs. Mark Bowser and Earl Hammer. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at McMullen Bridgewater Funeral Home.
