Did those Grobers immigrate to America? My g-g-g-grandfather was Gottfried Grober (1824-1904), who was born in Germany and immigrated to Milwaukee, WI. He married Carolyn Louisa Loeffler (1820-1891), who was born in Saxony and also immigrated to WI. I don't know either of their siblings. Maybe this could be the same family?

Hello there and thank-you very much for the reply. I REALLY wish I could connect the two families but unfortunately, the information that I listed on the previous message is ALL that I have not very much! But any information is always great to receive just incase!

Thanx

I am sorry but I can not tell you that! I really don't have much information there. I was hoping that someone would find my info that I have on here and be able to fill in the blanks as I know it was traced way way way back until it was destroyed in a house fire. But I would think that someone must still have a copy somewhere!

I have two Selma Geilers from Saxony in my tree. (Selma's brother was from Glauchau, Saxony, but I'm not sure if she was. The family was originally from St Egidien) I don't have enough information to definitely link with yours. I have a Selma Geiler who married Emil Schultz, daughter of Friedrich F Geiler & Christiana F Thost. She would have been born in the 1870's I think. Her children were Frieda, Hilda, Kurt, Milda, Else, & Helene. Since her husband is a Schultz, I assume that isn't a match, but that Selma's brother Louis also had a daughter Selma Geiler whom I know nothing about. She was probably born in the 1890's but I'm not sure. Her father, Louis married Anna and had children: Hulda, Frieda, Klara, Selma, Else, & Richard. I wish I had more information to make a connection.

Sometimes the only place to find your German immigrant ancestor is in the local German papers -- or my index of those papers called "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).

There are multiple family death notices for Gottfried Grober, and also multiple notices that were published in 1850 by a Gottfried Grober to help recover his lost livestock (?!?). These could be matched to your ancestor by the address listed in the notice. (I have a personal fondness for these notices ;-)
