The Emma Grob that I am familiar with was born in Peoria, Illinois, like I said, in 1865. When she was in her early twenties, she took a train trip from Peoria to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and back. She had to change trains in Chicago. She made it from Peoria to Milwaukee where she visited some Baumann relatives. To come home, they saw her off at the train station in Milwaukee, but when her family in Peoria came to the train station to meet her, she never showed up and was never heard from again. Does this sound like a story that is in your family? They figured something happened when she got to Chicago where she was supposed to change trains, but what that was has never been known.
