Grimsey (Somersham, Suffolk)

Hello

I have recently started researching my family tree and have been able to trace back to my 5xGreat Grandfather

He is called ISAAC Grimsey born in Somersham in 1768 (approx.) he married Rose Bumstead.

I was wondering if anyone out there is related .

I would also like to go back further but have drawn a blank.

I found the following info while volunteering to index the Essex, England, parish records for LDS. I'm not related but thought this "juicy tidbit" might be useful to somebody on this board. (XP on Dawson and Holden boards)

“The End. In printed Books from this time Pursuant to ye Act of Parliament Know [sic] as Roses. (Vide Abstract)”

“The Rector remarks on the entry of July 9 1780 where the name Sarah is altered to Hannah Grimsey. She was the wife of John Grimsey. There were two persons of that name viz Sarah da of John & the above Hannah, since married to Joseph Dawson of Gt Bently & Sarah da of Robert & Martha Bass 1760 and marrd to Richd Holden.

Jun 6 1785 Martha Grimsey. She was widow of Robert. She is called Hannah in no less than eight entries. Corrected on the authority of her own family & other undoubted testimony.”

I too am a descendant of Elizabeth Grimsey and John McKay. They had a daughter named Agnes who married William Cook, who had a daughter named Theodora who married Ernest Rogers, who had a son named Eric (my father).

this is a bit old but- Percy Grimsey married Ernstine Elza Elizabeth Grading born 31/10/1905 at Charlwood. she had 14 siblings. Was my grandmothers sister

Dear Richard my grandfather James John Grimsey married ada Pittock. His father was Isaac Grimsey who married Sarah Beer. His mother was Maria Grimey and father was John Garrod. Isaac had a younger brother James Grimsey who had a son William Grimsey. They all came from hintlesham, Chattisham, Stoke by Nayland Suffolk. Are we connected??

My father's family of Grimseys came from Stoke by Nayland. My grandfather was Walter Grimsey born in 1900 and appears in the 1901 census.

Dear Richard,

In April 1767 Hannah Grimsey married John Richardson at Layham, Suffolk. They were both "of Layham" and one of the witnesses was a John Grimsey who was a witness when an Anne Grimsey was married there a month earlier.

Hannah's birth is not in IGI but several children were born to John and Mary Grimsey in Layham about that time.

I'd be pleased to hear if you, or any other readers, have made any progress understanding the Grimsey famly.

Hi. I am doing research for my uncle on the Grimecy/Grimsey side of his family. I saw your post concerning Jacob J Grimsey and I think I have some information for you.
On the 1910 census he is living in East Drumore Twp, Pa with his wife Eva A and the following children.
Bertha M,15; Howard E., 13; Roy P., 11; and Alfred L., 6. I also found a daughter Carrie M. on a 1900 census born in June 1892. Jacob's parents are William Grimsey and Sarah Johnson Grimsey. William was born in Ireland in 1832 I believe. Jacobs siblings are William Henry Grimsey born Nov. 1865. and he has a sister Anna Grimsey. I have more information if you would it. Thanks for the info is great can look further now & maybe come up with some results. I think looking at my g/grandfathers b/certificate again yesterday, i think i got his wife's name wrong her name is definately just Alice Turner & I think his mother's name was Jessie Alice and fathers name was William John but have no idea of their dob. Maria J. has to be right, I would say she did not like to be called by her first name but by Jessie.

Hi Am trying to do faimily tree for Grimsey family William was my great grandfather, he married Jessie Alice Turner in 1888 (DOB 1865 from Middlesex). He was a baker and lived in Suffolk, then moved to Australia (I think soon after).
Any info would be greatly appreciated as I can only go back as far as this with the little info, i have would love to get more eg his parents, brothers, sisters, Jessie's parents, brothers & sisters and back further if i anyone can help.

I know who Jacob and Eva are because they are my Grandparents.They are the parents of my Father Roy Parke Grimsey.We(my siblings&I)never had the opportunity to meet them and would love to know something about their lives. As far as we know now my father has also died and I am looking for any info that we can find about him.We last saw him in 1948 and have tried periodically to locate him.If you know anything at all about him Please contact me.

Do you think you could make your request a little clearer please.

You say Grimsey boys who married Dimmick and Egan girls.
And then you go on to add the name Kettle too?

I have searched the indexes but no one called Grimsey married a Dimmick or and Egan.

Do you have any dates at all,or places,or do you have any of them on any censues?

I'm sure one of us will be able to find out more-once we have a bit more info.

You've also put Kingsbury in your title,which is in Middlesex and yet this is posted on the London board,so does that not relate to the place Kingsbury then?
